If I'm trying to brainstorm something in a story and I'm having a difficult time, I think about the problem right before I got to sleep or while going to sleep and I usually have an answer the next time I start to write. Whole book plots have popped into my head on trips. LOL Since I live in a rural area so there is a lot of driving.
